Joseph Antoine Poniatowski (1763-1813). Nephew of the King of Poland, Stanislas, he first served in the Austrian army, then joined the Polish ranks in 1789. He joined the Emperor Napoleon who appointed him “generalissimo” of the Poles. He distinguished himself with the Polish Imperial Guard in all the battles of the Empire, notably at Moskova and Leipzig, where Napoleon made him Marshal on the battlefield, on October 16, three days before his accidental death. Old manufacture of Gustave Vertunni, France, around 1945. Solid lead figurine. Scale 55mm to the eye line. Overall height : 60 – 65mm.
