Joachim Murat (1767-1815), Marshal of France. He is of all the wars of the Revolution, the Consulate and the Empire. This emeritus horseman, of an exceptional courage, is adored by the men whom he trains in cavalry charges of anthology. The Emperor admired him, but could not stand the displayed fantasy of the character. He nevertheless gave him the hand of his sister Caroline and made him Grand Duke of Berg and Cleves. He was “made” King of Naples by the Emperor in 1808, and died shot by the Calabrians during his attempt to reconquer the Kingdom of Naples in 1815.
