Jeanne de France (1464-1505). Daughter of Louis XI and Charlotte of Savoy. Physically deformed, she was nicknamed Jeanne La Boiteuse. Her father married her to Louis d’Orléans (future Louis XII). On the death of King Louis XI, she became regent of the kingdom, pending the coming of age of her younger brother, the dauphin, the future Charles VIII. He died very young, and she briefly became Queen of France. She devoted her life to prayer and charity. She was canonized in 1950. Early manufacture by Gustave Vertunni, France, circa 1940.
