Jean-Joseph Ange d’Hautpoul (1754-1807). A member of the Languedoc nobility, he served in the cavalry under the Ancien Régime, then the First Republic. Under the Empire, he rose to the rank of division general, still at the head of the heavy cavalry. His acts of bravery were numerous. He lost his life during the “great charge” of Eylau, when more than 10,000 French cavalrymen, following Murat, turned the tide of battle. Made by Gustave Vertunni, France, circa 1950. Solid lead figurine. Scale 55mm to eye line. Overall height: 60 – 65mm.
