Philip II Auguste, king of France (1165-1223). Son of Louis VII the Younger and Adele of Champagne. He married Isabella of Hainaut. During his 43-year reign, he quadrupled the royal domain and definitively established France as a European power. He wins a magnificent victory in Bouvines in 1214, but it is nevertheless during his reign that the crusade against the Albigeois and its procession of exactions took place. Old manufacture of Gustave Vertunni, France, around 1950. Hollow lead figurine, filled with plaster. Scale 55mm to the eye line. Overall height : 60 – 65mm.
