Laurent Gouvion Saint-Cyr (1764-1830). He joined the revolutionary army and was quickly promoted to major general. Marshal of the Empire in 1812 after his victory at Polotsk (Russia), he was captured at Dresden in 1813. His relations with the Emperor were complicated and he did not participate in the “cent-jours”. Appointed Minister of War in 1815, under the Restoration, he had to sign the act that delivered the Emperor to the English. Old manufacture of Gustave Vertunni, France, around 1950. Figurine in solid lead. Scale 55mm to the eye line. Overall height: 60 – 65mm. Shown here as Colonel General of the cuirassiers.
