Marguerite de Bourgogne (1290-1315). Daughter of Robert II, Duke of Burgundy, and Agnès de France. In 1305, she married Louis, King of Navarre, eldest son of King Philippe IV le Bel. She was convicted of adultery, as was her sister-in-law Blanche de Bourgogne, wife of the third son of King Philippe IV le Bel. Known as the “Affair of the Tour de Nesles”, this scandal led to the death of the two princesses in captivity and the terrible torture of the two guilty squires.
