Général Pierre Cambronne (1770-1842). Major of the Imperial Guard, he commands the last square of the old guard at Waterloo. Summoned by the English to surrender, he pronounced this oh-so-famous sentence: “The Guard dies but does not surrender!”. He added a little five-letter word, which the French know well. Old manufacture by Gustave Vertunni, France, around 1950. Solid lead figurine. Scale 55mm to the line of the eyes. Overall height: 60 – 65mm.
