Louis VIII the Lion, king of France (1187-1226). Son of Philip Augustus and Isabella of Hainaut. He reigned for only three years and died at the age of 39. He was an energetic king who won many victories over the English. He notably chased John Without Land from the throne, by landing in England. Old manufacture of Gustave Vertunni, France, around 1940. Solid lead figurine. Scale 55mm to the eye line. Overall height: 60 – 65mm. (Blue color).
