Vertunni. Louis IX. Saint-Louis.

120,00

Louis IX, King of France (1214-1270). His nickname of Saint-Louis is due to his canonization in 1297. His reign is both one of justice and intransigence. We owe to him the birth of the parliament, the monetary reform and the “court of accounts”, in charge, among other things, of tracking down embezzlement by royal agents. But he encouraged the inquisition, the successive crusades and the exactions against the Cathars. It was also on the occasion of a crusade, this one in Tunisia, that he died of dysentery in 1270. Old manufacture of Gustave Vertunni, France, around 1940. Hollow lead figurine, filled with plaster. Scale 55mm at the line of the eyes. Overall height: 60 – 65mm.
